Your 124 is neither a Dolby "A", nor a SR-unit, the 124 belongs to the last series of companding technology used primarily by radio stations in Central Europe. Constructed by the ANT-engineer Jürgen Wermuth according to the requirements of the German öffentlich-rechtlichem Rundfunk, the system needs no level adjustments and learned so far from the classical bottleneck of Ray Dolby's systems. His SR-System btw is his answer to Telefunken/ANT's TelcomC4, which appeared on the market in late 1975, while SR is available since about 1985.

As a four-band-system TelcomC4 uses dB-linear characteristics with a compression/expansion ratio of 1:1.5.

Your 124 contains a complete double-stereo-system, consisting in each case of two transformer coupled separate coding- and decoding units. You so far can operate coding and decoding units independently from each other.
