HI,
just bought an AEG 15A recorder.
It is the two track version I think, as it have a switch on the head block for the 1/1+2/2 tracks selection, any infos about this machine?
Where I can find the manual for this specific model or at least for the 15 but in english language?
Is it easy to convert the machine to stereo, (heads block, card) ?
Thanks
Regards
Giorgio

Hello Girgio,

it´s easy to convert to Stereo with a new head assembly or
with new heads. Do you have heads with 0,75mm or 2mm
track separation ? AEG-Telefunken has built the two-track-
version with both.

To get a servicemanual in english, I think you have perhaps
a little chance.

Erich

I have a Telefunken M21 with Track-Seperation.

The Sound is a little bit better as a M15A (M21 hat NE3455 / TL082-084).

Hello Giorgio,

no, it´s not necessary to change the prints, only ( but expensive )
the heads or the head assembly.

Oh yes, original brand new Playback stereo head!!!
It is still in his original red box and labelled: WC26 25.7314.000-00
accordling with the parts manual, it is the original number for the stereo playback on the Telefunken/AEG M15 & M15A machines.
I'm been lucky? ;-)
Ciao

Hello Girogio,

the WC26 is the older version ( the material is Ferrit )of the tape heads. The operating time
of this material is very good, but the cross talk is very bad ( about 40 to 45 dB ). Later they
used Vacodur and with this material the crosstalk was about 58 to 60 dB. The other specifications
are the same.

Hi Erich, thanks for your helpful answer.
So, you suggest that these are not good as the later version?
Do you think will be better do not use them?
Thanks
Giorgio
